The BMW i4 comes with a choice of two electric motors. The eDrive35 has a single 281 horsepower motor, and the eDrive40 335 horsepower. Although there is only about a 50hp difference between the two, the eDrive40 accelerates much quicker with more force on the tailbone. The all-wheel-drive M50 sports dual electric motors provide a whopping 536 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque. The more powerful M50 has a precipitous drop-off from eDrive40, managing only 270 miles on a single full charge with 94 MPGe city and 98 MPGe highway. Despite the i4's excellent range, it still falls far short of the Tesla Model 3's 358 miles of range.

There are a variety of luxurious interior accents available for the BMW i4 in 2023, including rose gold trim, white leather upholstery, and light wood trim.
